The Equal Esports Cup is a League of Legends tournament series for women and non-binary players. Together with Riot Games, Deutsche Telekom and SK Gaming, the esports player foundation wants to bring female players onto the big stage with the Equal Esports Cup and give them the opportunity to showcase their skills.

Esports organizations from the LEC and Prime League take part in the Equal Esports Cup

14 teams from already established Esports organizations from the DACH region are taking part in the tournament. These include: BIG Chroma, Eintracht Frankfurt, Eintracht Spandau, E WIE EINFACH E-SPORTS, French Bees (Vitality), G2 Hel, GamerLegion, KOI, MOUZ, SK Avarosa and Unicorns of Love.

In addition, up to four other teams can qualify in the Open Qualifiers. Any team, including women and non-binary persons, can register, regardless of whether it is a professional or privately formed team.

After the preliminary round, a maximum of 16 teams will take part in the four closed qualifiers. The best four teams will qualify for the offline final at the Equal Esports Festival in Cologne in mid-September. There, places 1 to 4 will be played in best-of-three mode.

Equal Esports Cup kick-off event at Xperion Berlin

To mark the start of the application phase for the Equal Esports Cup, a kick-off event took place on April 29 at Xperion Berlin. This was streamed on the esports player foundation channel and was intended to give the community insights into the Equal Esports Cup. In addition to three panel talks, moderated by Theres (Sissor), the highlight of the stream was the showmatch between BIG Chroma and SK Avarosa.
