Equal eSports Cup: More diversity in esports
Together with Deutsche Telekom, SK Gaming and Riot Games, the esports player foundation organized the Equal eSports Cup for women and non-binary people. A total of around 300 participants from 15 countries took part in the League of Legends tournament. The four teams with the most points after the qualifying rounds qualified for the grand final during the Equal eSports Festival Vol. 3, allowing players from the teams BDS Valkyries, G2 Hel, SK Avarosa & BIG Chroma to compete against each other live on stage at the Equal eSports Festival.
“We are delighted with the victory. It was a very emotional final. Our team gave everything, we were on top form,” says Lily “GWolfieG” Kraft from the winning team SK Avarosa. “Thanks to the Equal eSports Initiative, we were able to take part in a tournament in this protected setting for the first time. This success will help us all to continue to develop confidently and professionally.”
