The Equal eSports Council acts as the supervisory board for the Equal eSports Initiative and campaigns for the interests and needs of women and non-binary players. Among other things, they are repeatedly subjected to hostility and discrimination.
One of the most significant achievements of the Equal eSports Council is the publication of the Code of Conduct. A code of conduct sets clear expectations, promotes fairness and respect and shows that the community takes the values and safety of its members seriously.
The Equal eSports Council’s Code of Conduct contains detailed rules for dealing with one another and has already been used at the EqualeSports Festival Volume 3 .
Among other things, an emergency telephone number was set up to contact the local representatives in the event of an incident or concern regarding the Code of Conduct.
The Equal eSports Council’s Code of Conduct is an important step towards setting an example and showing that people in esports want to actively change things and work towards more inclusion and equality.
This code makes it clear that the esports community is willing to work together to create a respectful and safe environment where gender diversity and equal opportunities are prioritized and everyone feels safe.
