A thrilling final and a well-deserved victory
NNOwO has done it!
After an exciting and hard-fought tournament, the team triumphed at the Equal eSports Cup 2024 and prevailed against G2 Hel.
This victory marks another milestone in the esports career of NNOwO’s players and once again proves the relevance of tournaments and opportunities such as the Equal eSports Cup, or the Equal eSports Initiative, to promote diversity and equal opportunities in esports.
The road to victory
NNOwO started the tournament with two disappointing defeats in the group stage, but the team was not discouraged and kept on fighting, which definitely paid off!
With an impressive winning streak of eight games in a row, NNOwO catapulted itself to the top of the table and secured a direct place in the final.
The exciting duel against the top female team from G2, G2 Hel, ended with a narrow 2:1 victory for NNOwO.
The players not only took home the trophy, but also the prize money of 5,000 euros.
The Equal eSports Cup
The Equal eSports Cup stands for more than just exciting games.
It sets an example for diversity and inclusion by offering female and non-binary players a platform to showcase their talent.
NNOwO is a shining example of how this initiative is bearing fruit: With “Miella”, “Sayna” and “Sahrii”, the winning team includes three players who were sponsored by the esports player foundation’s Equal eSports Initiative.
“This victory means everything to us,” said Miella Steger, bot player from NNOwO, who couldn’t contain her joy after the final.
“We worked hard and it paid off. Each of us showed what we’re made of in the final.”
G2 Hel – a worthy opponent
G2 Hel also put in a remarkable performance.
The team, which had already taken part in the first edition of the Equal eSports Cup last year, secured its place in the final in an exciting semi-final.
There, however, they were narrowly defeated by NNOwO.
Nevertheless, “Caltys” and their team can be proud of their performance, as they have once again shown that they are one of the best teams in Europe.
